Ban on prisoners meeting in Adiala Jail lifted

Rawalpindi: The ban on meeting prisoners in Adiala Jail has been lifted on October 26, sources told.

It is pertinent to note that during the last few weeks, the ban on meeting prisoners at Adiala Jail was lifted by the Punjab government but extended again.

The administration's decision to ban prisoners came at a time when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided to protest at Islamabad's D Chowk against Imran Khan's imprisonment.

During the same ban, the issue of constitutional amendments was also circulating and PTI leaders were not able to reach Imran Khan.

Later, on the intervention of Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, the PTI delegation was allowed to meet the PTI founder and they consulted on constitutional amendments.

On the other hand, according to prison sources, the meetings of all prisoners, including common prisoners, will now be as usual. Officials had justified the ban on meetings due to security reasons.

In this regard, it was argued that visits to prisons were prohibited due to mock exercises.
