PTI rules the roost in AJK elections with 25 seats, unofficial results suggest
Islamabad: Kashmiris Sunday voted in the favour of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on Sunday as the party candidates secured 25 seats in the Azad and Jammu Kashmir elections, unofficial and unconfirmed results suggest.
According to GNN reports, out of total 45 seats PTI won 25 seats, PPP nine, PML-N 6 and Muslim Conference and Jammu and Kashmir PPP bagged one seat each.
The results of three constituencies are still awaiated.
The elections were held for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (AJKLA).
Imran Khan's party is leading with 24 seats out of a total 45, said Raja Azhar Iqbal, a focal person for local election commission.
But Khan's top adviser Shahbaz Gill declared victory in a tweet saying his party has won 26 seats.
Unofficial estimates of the results started coming in late Sunday, Iqbal said, adding that the election commission will make a formal announcement on Monday.
PML-N's Maryam rejects results
PML-N vice-President Maryam Nawaz has rejected the results of AJK elections, saying she will never accept the results.
In her tweet, she said "I even didn't accept the results of 2018 general elections and the bogue government. I have praised the workers and voters. The party will decide the strategy on shameful rigging".
