Saudi makes Covid-19 vaccination mandatory to use public transport

As per official notification the Kingdom would restrict access to certain facilities and services within the country only to those who have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

The kingdom’s official news agency said, “Saudi residents entering entertainment venues or sporting activities, educational facilities and public transport must be vaccinated”.

With effect from August 1, vaccination is required to enter the following

o   Economic, commercial, cultural, entertainment or sports activities

o   Cultural, educational, social or entertainment events

o   Government or private institutions, as an employee or visitor

o   Government or private educational facilities

Vaccination is also required before using public transport.

Officials instructed all operators of public transport to start vaccinating their employees before the date of mandatory enforcement of the new rule.

All residents are directed to show their vaccination status in Tawakkalna app (The official Saudi Contact Tracing app).

The move comes in the wake of the recent rise in the daily reported coronavirus cases.

Those who do not comply with the new rule are required to submit a negative PCR test every seven days at the expense of the institution they are working for.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Health said that coronavirus vaccines are available at all immunisation centres across the country.
