Govt may shut Chaman border temporarily for security reasons
Islamabad: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Thursday that Pak-Afghan border at Chaman could be closed for few days due to security reasons.
Addressing media in Islamabad, the minister assured everyone that Pakistan’s forces are present at the border. “We are proud of our security institutions for the service they are rendering for the security of the country”.
He reiterated that "Pakistan desires peace and stability in Afghanistan. Peace in Pakistan is proportional to peace in Afghanistan”.
Responding to a question, the minister said “I think this time isn’t fair to announce long march instead of this government and opposition parties should sit together to deal with the challenges.
“Opposition can hold the long march within the ambit of law but nobody will be allowed to take law into hands,” the interior minister warned.
Meanwhile, he said all those Afghans who came from Afghanistan to Pakistan in evacuation process, had returned to their destinations.
