Karachi loses power after torrential rains wreak havoc

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a warning of urban flooding as a result of rain.

Following the catastrophic situation, several parts of the coastal city were ruined including Korangi, DHA, Clifton, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Liaquatabad, Karimabad, and Lasbela.

According to the concerned, Sadi Town recorded 41.2-milliliter rainfall, University road 33, North Karachi 28.2, and Jinnah terminal 17.8 respectively.

Massive traffic jams, inundated roads and electrical failures have also been reported.

“The city has been engulfed by the clouds,” noted the PMD.

Water amassed at the main road of metropolitan city’s Shahrah-e-Faisal precipitating obstruction in the flow of traffic.

However, the Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab tweeted that, "it’s raining heavily in different areas of the city. I’m in District Central right now on Shahrah e Pakistan. The administration is also out on the road".

The Met department has predicted one more spell of heavy rainfall in Sindh and eastern Balochistan.

Several flight operations delayed resultantly.
