Pak-Army open Murree Expressway; establish four medical camps

Islamabad: Pakistan Army Saturday established four camps at various locations to provide relief to stranded tourists in the areas of calamity-hit Murree and Galiyat. 

The Army had established four camps at Military college Murree, Jhika Gali , APS Kuldana, and Station supply Depot Sunny Bank.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) in separate updates said that Pak-Army engineers and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) dozers and opened Murree Expressway and Jhika Gali-Gharial Road.

As per ISPR, the stranded people were moved to Army Public School (APS) Kuldana for shelter and food.

The dozers were moved from Muzafarabad to assist the road clearance operation, added ISPR.

The troops from 111 brigade of the Army were opening road at Bahara Kahu and providing necessary food items to the masses.

It further added that all resources were placed at the disposal of Murree division in terms of the engineers and machinery mobilized to execute the rescue and relief efforts.

The military is attempting clear roads and rescue people still trapped near the hilltop town of Murree.

The area has now been declared a disaster area and people have been urged to stay away.
