Pakistanis to face power shock followed by petrol bomb
Amid surging inflation, power tariff likely to go up by Rs6.1 per unit
Islamabad: Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) Saturday recommended to increase the power tariff by Rs6.10 per unit.
As per details, an application has been submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) under fuel adjustment for the month of January and the CPPA sought Rs6.10 per unit increase in power tariff.
The petition states that 14.37% electricity has been generated from local gas while 7.12% from LNG, 14.37% from nuclear fuel, 2.22% from wind and 1.22% from bagasse.
The hike has been requested in context of last month’s duel price adjustment.
NEPRA will hear the plea on February 28 (Monday).
Pakistan is currently facing an onslaught of inflation and the subsequent financial crisis.
Notably, the development comes even as other commodities like petrol, diesel in Pakistan continued to become more expensive for the citizens.
