Tehran: At least three people were killed after a fighter jet crashed into a stadium in a city in northwest Iran, the country’s state-run news agency reported Monday.
According to preliminary details, the crash killed two pilots and a civilian.
Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) stated that the F-5 fighter crashed into a stadium in a residential area of Tabriz, a city of 1.6 million residents.
The official news agency posted video footage on its website showing firefighters putting out a blaze at the crash site.

Authorities, however, are investigating the incident.
Iran’s air force has an assortment of US-made military aircraft purchased before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The country also has Russian-made MiG and Sukhoi planes.
