On Sunday night, putting up a magnificent performance, Lahore Qalandars Sunday thrashed Multan Sultans by 42 runs, bagging their first-ever Pakistan Super League (PSL) title.
Shaheen Shah Afridi led Lahore Qalandars to their maiden Pakistan Super League title last night by defeating Mohammed Rizwan's Multan Sultans.
Defending a 181-run target at the Gaddafi Stadium, Qalandars won the final match by 42 runs successfully. Lahore’s win also means that all six PSL franchises have now won the elusive trophy—at least once.
Batting first, Lahore lost some early wickets. However, after posting 180/5, Qalandars bowled Multan Sultans out for 138.
Earlier, Multan Sultans had reached the PSL final after thoroughly dominating the league phase. The Sultans won the PSL title in 2021.
David Wiese clinched the final wicket of Imran Tahir paving the way for Qalandars to lift the long-awaited trophy.
After struggling so many years, the win also helped Shaheen Afridi to become the youngest captain to win a T20 league trophy—breaking Indian star Rohit Sharma’s record.
Sharma led Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians to the title, aged 26, in 2013.
Before Shaheen, Mohammad Rizwan was the youngest captain, 28, to lead his side to victory.
The dominant victory by Lahore Qalanders has delighted its fans who then stormed all social media sites— to rejoice the win.
