According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 765 persons were tested positive while 22 died in the past 24 hours— taking Pakistan's COVID death toll to 30,218.

Islamabad: Pakistan is witnessing a significant drop in the daily coronavirus death count for the few days after over a month hike, health department’s data showed Wednesday morning. 

According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 765 persons were tested positive while 22 died in the past 24 hours— taking Pakistan's COVID death toll to 30,218.       

Pakistan imposed new restrictions to curb the fast-spreading Omicron variant, hence, the positivity rate now stands at 2.23%. While, the cumulative tally of the country has now climbed to 1,510,986.      

As many as 1,445,245 patients have recovered from the disease.     

Punjab

The number of patients swelled to 501,544 in the province with 13,500 causalities.

Sindh

The number of infections has surged to 568,277 in the province, while the death toll has reached 8,070.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The confirmed cases have surged to 216,174 in the province with 6,260 casualties.

Balochistan

There are 35,345 confirmed cases while 375 patients have died from the infection so far.

AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan

There are 42,978 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 788. On the other hand, there are 11,499 cases in GB with 190 coronavirus deaths.

Islamabad

There are 134,404 cases in the capital city while 1,013 people have lost their lives.
