Few PML-N MPs to vote Sadiq Sanjarani in Senate chairman election, claims Sheikh Rasheed

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior Rasheed Ahmad has said that some Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentarians will vote for Sadiq Sanjarani in the upcoming Senate Chairman election scheduled to be held on March 12.

In an exclusive interview with GNN's ‘Khabar Hay’ panel, Interior Minister said that the PML-N is not interested in PDM candidate Yousaf Raza Gillani’s victory in Senate chairman poll.

Further giving an insider he said that Muslim League MPs would play an important role in Sanjarani’s win in March 12 elections.

While talking in an interview with veteran journalist Arif Hameed Bhatti and senior analyst Saeed Qazi, Mr Rashid said Prime Minister Imran Khan stands by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar and PML-N has asked Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to step-back from lobbying against the Punjab’s ruler.

Talking about the past events, the Home Minister said that there is no politician in Pakistan who don’t meet the powerhouses and every legislator remains in ‘direct or indirect’ contact with the ‘decision makers’.

Talking about the future of PML-N leadership, Mr Rashid said that the Prime Minister will not let Maryam Nawaz to travel abroad.

PM is now regretting on his mistake of allowing PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to fly London, he added. “The Imran Khan will never negotiate with the former PM.”

Further, Sheikh Rashid said that former President Asif Zardari negotiated with the MPs who voted for PDM contender in Senate Elections whereas deals struck in Dubai. “We will retort with similar game which opposition had played with us in defeating Hafeez Shaikh,”
