Gujranwala: In an unfortunate incident, at least 12 people—including six women and a child—were killed while 10 sustained injuries after two passenger vans rammed into a dumper near Kot Ladha area of Gujranwalain the wee hours of Friday, GNN reported.
According to details, driver of the dumper fell asleep, blocking the road to cross the center line and striking two vehicles that were coming from opposite direction.
Reportedly, the ill-fated passenger vans were carrying 28 people from Gujranwala who were returning from Sargodha after attending Urs.
Rescue teams and police reached the spot of after getting information and shifted the deceased an injured to a nearby hospital.
Officials stated that most of the victims belong to same family. No further details have been revealed.
The driver of the truck fled after the accident, said police.
Police, however, have started an investigation into the incident.
