PM Shehbaz Sharif vows steps to reduce traffic accidents through better management
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday expressed condolence over the loss of precious lives in a traffic accident in Gujranwala.
In a message issued by the PM Office, the prime minister condoled with the families of the victims and directed the Punjab government to measures for the prevention of traffic accidents.
“We will implement a program to reduce accidents through better road construction and management measures,” Shahbaz Sharif said in a message from London.
PM Shehbaz is in the UK along with some cabinet members to discuss political affairs with Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
“May Allah Almighty grant the deceased elevated ranks in heavens and for patience to their families. Amen,” he said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Earlier today, at least 12 people—including six women and a child—were killed while 10 sustained injuries after two passenger vans rammed into a dumper near Kot Ladha area of Gujranwala.
According to details, the driver of the dumper fell asleep, blocking the road to cross the center line and striking two vehicles that were coming from the opposite direction.
Reportedly, the ill-fated passenger vans were traveling to Gujranwala from Hafizabad when the accident occurred at the Hafizabad Road.
Rescue teams and police reached the spot after getting information and shifted the deceased and injured to a nearby hospital.
Officials stated that mostly the victims belonged to the same family. No further details have been revealed.
Police, however, have started an investigation into the incident.
