Two killed after a drunk driver rams into group of children near Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat
Lahore: In a tragic incident, two girls have been killed while two others sustained injuries by a car being driven by a drunk driver near Akbar Shaheed Chowk area of Kot Lakhpat Lahore, GNN reported.
According to details, the tense and chaotic scene unfolded Sunday evening after a speeding car rammed into several people including four children playing on the street.
Rescue teams and police reached the spot after getting information and shifted the dead and injured to a nearby hospital.
The victims have been identified as 4-year-old Fatima who died on the spot and a 7-year-old unidentified girl who succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
Among the injured, Amna (9) and Samia (7) are said to be in critical condition.
The man was traveling up to 100 mph and "drifting" before crashing into children and then overturned.
As per police, an FIR has been registered under Section 322 against the driver.
Police also initiated investigation regarding the accident and the car was also taken into custody.
According to the CCTV footage, the unknown man can be seen driving alone, when he lost control of the vehicle, crashed through several fences, people—causing a path of destruction.

Following the accident, people rushed to the spot detained the suspect before informing the police.
In the meantime, Chief Minister Punjab Hamza Shehbaz took notice of the incident and demanded an inquiry report on the accident.
Expressing heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased girls, Hamza Shahbaz said that the deaths of innocent children was due to negligence of the driver, terming it a ‘tragic event’. He also directed the concerned authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured.
