ECP issues notification issued to de-seat 25 dissident PTI MPAs
Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had sent a reference to the ECP against 25 PTI lawmakers.
Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a notification to de-seat 25 dissident members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
According to details, the Election Commission has issued the notification to de-seat PTI lawmakers who voted against the party policy in the election for the Punjab chief minister on April 16.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had sent a reference to the ECP against 25 PTI lawmakers.
MPAs who have been de-seated include Raja Sagheer Ahmed, Malik Ghulam Rasool Sangha, Saeed Akbar Khan, Muhammad Ajmal, Aleem Khan, Nazeer Chohan, Mohammad Ameen Zulqarnain, Noman Langrial, Mohammad Salman, Zawar Warraich, Nazeer Ahmed Khan, Fida Hussain, Zahra Batool, Mohammad Tahir, Ayesha Nawaz, Sajida Yousuf, Haroon Imran Gill, Uzma Kardar, Malik Asad Ali, Ijaz Masih, Sibtain Raza, Mohsin Ata Khan Khosa, Mian Khalid Mehmood, Mehr Mohammad Aslam, and Faisal Hayat.
Out of the 25 members who have been de-seated by the Election Commission today, four belong to the Asad Khokhar group, five from Aleem Khan while 16 MPs are affiliated with the Jahangir Khan Tareen faction of PTI.
It is pertinent to remember that the Election Commission of Pakistan de-seated 25 dissident MPs on Friday, who had voted for PML-N’s Hamza Shahbaz in the Punjab chief minister’s election.
The ECP announced the unanimous verdict today. In its 23-page order, the Election Commission said that the MPs voted against the party line and were liable to be de-seated according to the law.
