Punjab governor, PA Speaker lock horns over budget session for tomorrow
The deadlock between the treasury and opposition benches persisted for second consecutive day
Lahore: The Punjab governor and the Punjab Assembly Speaker locked horns over the budget session on Tuesday as the former convened the session at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal at 3pm, while the latter convened the session at the Punjab Assembly at 1pm on Wednesday.
After having no progress in the budget session, Speaker Chauhdry Pervez Elahi adjouned the session till tomorrow.
On the other hand, Punjab Governor Baligur Rehman convened the 41st session tomorrow.
Earlier, the PA session chaired by the Speaker began with a delay of eight hours and 41 minutes.
Talks of talks between the opposition and the government continued throughout the day. Some time ago it was reported that PTI members were ready to attend the meeting and the meeting would start shortly.
Meanwhile, Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman canceled the ongoing 40th session of the Punjab Assembly and convened the 41st session of the Punjab Assembly in Aiwan-e-Iqbal tomorrow. The Governor Punjab convened the 41st session of the Punjab Assembly tomorrow at 3 o'clock.
However, at the same time the 40th session of the Punjab Assembly was started by the Speaker National Assembly but after some time he adjourned the sitting till one o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
Now the question is whether tomorrow's meeting will be in Punjab Assembly at one o'clock in the afternoon or in Aiwan-e-Iqbal at three o'clock in the afternoon?
In this regard, PTI member Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmood Al-Rasheed said that the meeting convened by the Governor in Aiwan-e-Iqbal has no constitutional status. I cannot convene a meeting in Aiwan-e-Iqbal.
It may be recalled that Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi has demanded an apology from IG Punjab.
