New York City ad on surviving a nuclear attack raises eyebrows

Officials in New York City have released a video telling residents what to do in the event of a nuclear disaster.
The New York City Emergency Management Department launched a new public service announcement (PSA) that focuses on nuclear preparedness, detailing the three key steps New Yorkers should take if the Big Apple is nuked.
The goal of the campaign is to inform the public on ways to stay safe if nuclear weapons were pointed in New York's direction.
Released online on Monday, the 90-second video lays out three steps citizens should follow if "the big one has hit," though officials say the likelihood of an attack is "very low".
The startling announcement is followed by three pieces of advice: Get inside, stay inside, and stay tuned for more information.
As per the video clip, people should seek shelter inside a building away from windows, stay inside to reduce exposure to radioactive dust, and stay tuned to the media and governmental for official updates.
The information video ends with the host offering words of encouragement that some may find inadequate for navigating the aftermath of a nuclear attack: “All right? You’ve got this.”
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters that the federal government was not involved in launching the video, nor does he believe that it was a result of intelligence sharing.
In the meantime, New York City's emergency management office Wednesday defended its decision to produce a public service announcement advising residents how to survive a nuclear attack after some questioned the advisory's timing.
Watch the video here:
Officials have played down suggestions that the timing of the advertisement was related to heightened concerns about the potential for a nuclear war between the United States and Russia over the invasion of Ukraine.
The nuclear-armed states include the United Kingdom, France, China, Pakistan, India, Israel, and North Korea.
The US dropped two atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, making it the only country to have used nuclear arms against another nation.
It is pertinent to mention here that anyone anywhere near ground zero will be vaporized, turned to ash, asphyxiated, dismembered, or worse by a nuclear blast.
