Renowned ‘Sohni Dharti’ singer remembered on her second death anniversary
Karachi: The renowned late singer Shehnaz Begum is being remembered on her second death anniversary across the country on Tuesday (today).

Legendary singer Shahnaz Rahmatullah, popularly known as Shahnaz Begum, born on January 02, 1952 and passed away in Bangladesh on March 23 at the age of 67, following a cardiac arrest.
She debuted in singing at the age of 11, as a playback singer for the film ‘Notun Sur’ in 1963 while she first performed on television in 1964.
Shehnaz Begum sang in Bangladeshi and Pakistani films and mostly crooned patriotic songs in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Her famous songs includes ‘Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhe’ and ‘Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan’.
Moreover, the singer crowned Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the film ‘Chhutir Phande’ in 1990 and Ekushey Padak in 1992.
