PP-7 Rawalpindi by-polls: RO rejects PTI candidate's request for recount of votes
According to the Returning Officer's decision, the request for recount has been rejected on the basis of lack of evidence


Rawalpindi: PTI candidate Colonel (Rtd) Shabbir Awan's request for recount of votes in Punjab Assembly Constituency PP-7 Rawalpindi was rejected.
According to the sources, the Returning Officer rejected the PTI's request for recount in PP-7 Rawalpindi.
Accoridng to the decision, there will be no recount in PP-7, all the polling agents were present at the time of the results while the delay in the results was due to RTS system break.
According to the sources, in the decision issued by the Returning Officer, it has been said that the Tehreek-e-Insaaf candidate did not provide concrete evidence for the recount, the polling stations where objection was made were asked.
According to the decision of the Returning Officer, the request for recount has been rejected on the basis of lack of evidence, but only the rejected votes will be rechecked.
It may be noted that Shabbir Awan, the PTI candidate who lost in PP-7 Rawalpindi, submitted a request for recount, on which the returning officer reserved the decision after the arguments of the previous parties were completed.
According to the unofficial non-final result of all 260 polling stations of PP7 Rawalpindi, Raja Sagheer Ahmed of PML-N won with 68,906 votes while Mohammad Shabbir Awan of PTI got 68,857 votes and faced defeat by 49 votes.
The PTI candidate refused to accept the results and filed a recount petition.
