ECP issues victory notification of PML-N’s Raja Sageer


Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Friday issued victory notifications for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Raja Sagheer Ahmed after scrutiny of the rejected votes was completed in PP-7 (Rawalpindi-II).
According to the results, PML-N’s candidate Raja Sagheer won the by-poll on the Punjab Assembly seat with a thin margin of 61 votes while PTI’s Col (retd) Shabbir Awan came in second.
Constituency notification was halted after the PTI’s candidate, Shabbir Awan, had submitted an application to RO Rai Sultan Bhatti and requested a recount.
The result was announced after an inspection of rejected votes in PP-7 Kahota Kalrasidaan.
Following the results, one more vote of PML-N has increased for the election of Chief Minister of Punjab.
The number of votes of the PML-N candidate increased by 12, taking the total number of votes to 68,918 from 68,906, while the PTI votes increased to reach 68,863.
It is pertinent to mention here that according to the unofficial result, Raja Sagheer Ahmed won with 68,906 votes while Mohammad Shabbir Awan of PTI got 68,857 votes.
The ECP had set up 266 polling stations, comprising 787 polling booths, for 335,295 registered voters in the constituency.
