Islamabad: The government has decided to establish a National Flood Response and Coordination Center to cope with the situation of floods in the country and rehabilitation of flood-affected people.

The Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority briefed the meeting about the situation of floods in the country and relief activities.
The participants lauded the federal government for its immediate relief to the flood victims, the release of five billion rupees to NDMA, 15 billion rupees to Sindh, a special grant of 10 billion rupees to Balochistan and payment of one million rupees to the family of every deceased.
They also appreciated the decision of the Prime Minister to give immediate assistance of 25000 rupees in cash to every person affected by the floods.
They thanked the international partners, world community, the United Nations, development agencies, and especially friendly countries for their help in tackling the natural disaster.
The meeting endorsed the proposal that a comprehensive national level reconstruction plan should be formulated in view of the large-scale disaster caused by the floods.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in a tweet said National Flood Response and Coordination Center will serve as a bridge between disaster management authorities, donors and government institutions.
He said it will collect and analyse latest information and pass it on to the relevant government agencies.
Shehbaz Sharif said it will also oversee rescue and relief work including restoration of infrastructure.
