Seoul: Global sensation BTS’s leader Kim Namjoon aka RM turned 28 (Korean age 29) on September 12, following which fans—collectively known as ARMY—showered the rapper with heartwarming messages and trended hashtags all over social media.

Kim Namjoon, the multi-talented leader of the renowned boyband is celebrating his birthday today. Starting the day with subtle celebrations at midnight, the BTS leader was joined by close friends, and shared a glimpse of his intimate party on his Instagram story.

With candles, cakes, and more, the K-pop artist's birthday celebration was a private and close-knit affair. RM also treated ARMYs to some photos from the midnight celebration.

While ARMY, who never fails to show love to their boys on birthdays, might have flooded social media with their fun-filled wishes for the songwriter, his fellow band members were also not behind.

BTS member J-hope was one of the first to tweet from the band’s official handle. He shared a solo click of the songwriter and added another photo where both of them are showing off their muscles. And needless to say, ARMYs lost their calm.

The rapper followed up by a picture of RM and himself flaunting their matching friendship tattoo with the caption, “Only the leader."

Following this, Suga left a sweet note for the leader that read, “happy birthday Namjoon you've worked hard let’s gain strength. #ItsSugaHyung #/HappyBirthdayNamjoon #/NAMJOONDAY,” and fans immediately went from feral to emotional mode within seconds.

This time, the fandom has planned an event called ‘Octave’ for his birthday. In this event, fans write their deep thoughts and reasons on how the BTS leader has inspired them in numerous situations.

A fan group on Twitter has already scheduled a streaming party for RM’s birthday, tweeting, “RM’s Birthday Streaming Goals Update”.

Some fans are transforming their Twitter aesthetic in honour of their favorite idol. ARMYs are creating RM-themed headers for others to use.

Born in 1994 in Seoul's Dongjak District, RM has been the frontman of BTS since its formation. Before making his debut in 2013, the Korean rapper trained for three years with fellow members Min Yoongi aka Suga and Jung Hoseok, also known as J-Hope.

He was launched with the stage name Rap Monster. However, in 2017, Kim Namjoon announced that he was doing away with the stage name Rap Monster and would use the name RM instead.

On the other hand, the Korean pop band recently confirmed that they will perform a free concert in Busan in support of the city's bid to host the World Expo in 2030.
