PM lauds Miftah Ismail's efforts to save country from default
The Prime Minister also congratulated Ishaq Dar for assuming responsibilities as the new finance minister
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail for his tireless efforts to save Pakistan from default.
Speaking at the Cabinet meeting in Islamabad today (Wednesday), he lauded the former Finance Minister for reviving the IMF programme, which had been suspended due to violation of international obligations by the previous regime of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
The Prime Minister also congratulated Ishaq Dar for assuming responsibilities as the new finance minister of the country. He hoped that Ishaq Dar would do his level best to strengthen Pakistan's economy.
Shehbaz Sharif also apprised the cabinet about his recent visits to Uzbekistan and the United States to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the United States General Assembly sessions respectively. He informed that he and his delegation held very productive meetings with the World leaders, including Presidents of China, Russia, and Turkiye on the sidelines of both events.
He said the leadership of the Central Asian countries has a strong desire for connectivity of all kinds with Pakistan. He said the international community also expressed its support with the people of Pakistan on the devastation caused by catastrophic floods in the country.
The Prime Minister also commended the role of Federal Ministers Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Sherry Rehman, Minister of State Hina Rabbani Khar, and others for highlighting Pakistan's viewpoint on the global platforms during tours.
