"Government believes in practical and serious steps"


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to chalk out an urgent action plan in view of uninterrupted gas supply to consumers during the upcoming winter season.
Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday, he regretted that the previous government did not take advantage of the availability of cheap gas in the international market during Covid-19. He said the nation was wronged by not timely purchasing the gas.
Shehbaz Sharif noted that the entire country and the poor people are bearing the brunt of the failure of the previous government to take timely decisions.
The Prime Minister made it clear that he will not tolerate any maladministration or criminal negligence. He said those who laid landmines in the economy destroyed every sector and broke the back of the poor people.
The Prime Minister said the present government believes in practical and serious steps.
He directed to provide an uninterrupted gas supply to domestic consumers during cooking hours.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on the expected demand and supply of gas in the winter season.
The meeting was apprised of the plan prepared for the supply of gas in the coming months.
The Prime Minister directed the officials concerned to further improve the plan and gave the directions to give priority to short and middle-term plans.
The meeting was attended by former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Malik, Adviser Ahad Cheema, and other high-ranking officials.
