President, PM reiterate govt's commitment to capacity enhancement of disaster management system

President, PM reiterate govt's commitment to capacity enhancement of disaster management system

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Saturday said the government is committed to capacity enhancement of disaster management system in Pakistan. 

In his message on "National Resilience Day", the premier said that the government is undertaking necessary legislation on the subject, building resilient infrastructure and promoting risk sensitive governance and adaptation.

The Prime Minister said the government will continue to do its best to take care of flood affected people by ensuring their timely rehabilitation, reconstruction and revival of economy.

The 8th October is observed as National Resilience Day in the country to express solidarity with the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and rest of Pakistan who suffered human and other losses due to a severe earthquake in 2005.

President Dr Arif Alvi in his message said the 8th day of every October reminds us of the devastating earthquake of 2005 that wreaked havoc in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.

He said we commemorate this occasion with a mission and commitment to advance national preparedness by improving and increasing the nation's resilience to disasters.
