Lahorr: Legendary singer Shaukat Ali, who has been suffering from liver disease for some time is in critical condition and has been admitted to hospital.

According to Shaukat Ali's son Imran Shaukat, his father's liver condition is deteriorating and he has stopped eating and drinking.
He said that singer Shaukat Ali has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of CMH Hospital, Lahore.
Singer Shaukat Ali's son has appealed to the nation to pray for his father's speedy recovery.
It may be recalled that Shaukat Ali was shifted to CMH Lahore a few days back due to ill health and was later shifted to ICU.
The Singer was undergoing treatment in Sindh in October last year but was shifted to CMH Lahore on the special instructions of the Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
At the time, doctors had said that singer Shaukat Ali had a serious liver disease that efforts were being made to eradicate.
However, doctors said that due to old age, diabetes and heart disease, his liver could not be transplanted.
Shaukat Ali was awarded the Pride of Performance Award by the government in 1990.
Singer Shaukat Ali made his name in folk-Punjabi songs. His National anthem 'Jaag Utha Hai Sara Watan' sung in 1965 is still popular.
He gave a live performance at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi and his song "Kadi De Has Bolway" was used in the 2009 Indian film Love Aaj Kal.
