Funeral prayers of slain journalist Arshad Sharif offered
Arshad Sharif will be laid to rest at the H-11 cemetery of the federal capital.
Islamabad: Funeral prayers of Pakistan’s renowned journalist and television anchorperson Arshad Sharif have been offered at Islamabad Faisal Mosque on Thursday.
The journalist will be laid to rest at 2pm today.
As per family sources, Arshad Sharif will be laid to rest at the H-11 cemetery of the federal capital. A great crowd of citizens reached the Faisal Mosque for the funeral prayer.
As many as 3,792 security personnel were deployed to the capital city in a bid to provide security. 204 policemen of the Sindh Police and 2,500 FC personnel are also appointed to assist the Islamabad Police.
The slain journalist was flown back to Pakistan from Kenya in the early hours of Wednesday.
The Kenyan police admitted to killing him in a 'mistaken identity case'. Following this, an eight-member medical board of the PIMS hospital carried out the postmortem on his body.
At the family's request, an ENT surgeon and an OMFS surgeon were also included in the team of doctors, which also conducted an X-ray and CT scan of the deceased.
Sources privy to the matter stated that the autopsy report is expected to be released today.
