Islamabad: Pakistan's coronavirus tally on Friday reached 678,165 with the detection of 5,234 new cases in the last 24 hours, with authorities linking the uptick in numbers to the third wave of the deadly outbreak across the country.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 5,283 cases of coronavirus were reported while 83 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 14,613.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 678,165.
As many as 607,205 patients have recovered from the disease with 3,384 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 225,953 in the province with 6,485 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 265,917 in the province, while the death toll has reached 4,504.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 88,255 in the province with 2,382 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 19,610 confirmed cases while 209 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 12,984 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 358. On the other hand, there are 5,045 cases in GB with 103 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 59,401 cases in the capital city while 572 people have lost their lives
