The victims were crossing the road when the police mobile hit them.


Islamabad: In yet another case of police negligence, a mother and her daughter were killed on Tuesday while crossing the road after a fast-moving police van rammed into them at Srinagar Highway in Islamabad.
According to details, the victims were crossing the road near Sector G-9 when the police mobile hit them, killing them on the spot.
The victims have been identified as Soraya Bibi (mother) and Alia (daughter).
As per the preliminary investigation, the duo were Afghan nationals, and were residing in Golra area in the capital territory.
Reportedly, another passerby girl also got involved into the unfortunate accident and sustained injuries.
The deceased and the injured were shifted to the nearby hospital.
Police, however, started an investigation into the incident and arrested the van driver, registering a case in I-9 police station under the provisions of accidental death.
The area had been cordoned off since the incident was reported.
In the meantime, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of Islamabad has issued orders of complete merit investigation into the incident at the earliest.
