Covid-19: Pakistan reports over 5,000 cases as third wave rages across country
Islamabad: Pakistan has reported 5,312 new Covid-19 cases and 105 deaths, with authorities linking the uptick in numbers to the third wave of the deadly outbreak across the country.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 5,312 cases of coronavirus were reported while 105 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 15,229.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 710829.
As many as 625,789 patients have recovered from the disease with 4,116 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 243,295 in the province with 6,851 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 267,970 in the province, while the death toll has reached 4,521.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 96,128 in the province with 2,553 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 20,097 confirmed cases while 213 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 14,069 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 391. On the other hand, there are 5,097 cases in GB with 103 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 64,173 cases in the capital city while 597 people have lost their lives.
