ECP to discuss way forward general elections of Punjab, KP

Islamabad: Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja on Tuesday called a consultative meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan regarding the general election of the Provincial Assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tomorrow [Wednesday] at the Election Commission of Pakistan Secretariat, in Islamabad.

The meeting will discuss the way forward for general elections of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assemblies.

On other hand, PML-N leader Malik Ahmad Khan said that PTI Chief Imran Khan's recent statement regarding foreign intervention exposed his fake cypher narrative.

Addressing media in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said Imran Khan committed crime with the country and nation by creating fake cypher story which damaged our diplomatic relations. He said this crime is disloyalty with constitution and his oath.

He further said Imran Khan defeated Article 95 of the constitution by dissolving the National Assembly after submission of vote of no-confidence against him.

Regarding next general elections, Ahmad Khan said logically free and fair general elections in two provinces are not possible in the absence of unbiased caretaker setup of federal government. He said to keep the elections cycle smooth general elections of National Assembly and provincial assemblies should be held at the same time.
