Legendary poet Mirza Ghalib remembered on his death anniversary
He died on February 15, 1869 at his house in Delhi.


Lahore: Pakistan is remembering renowned Urdu poet Mirza Asadullah Baig Khan aka Mirza Ghalib on his 154th death anniversary on Monday.
Mirza Galib remains popular not only in India and Pakistan but also among the diaspora.
The Indian poet wrote in Urdu and Persian and his Persian divan is at least five times longer than his Urdu. However, his fame rests in his Urdu poetry.
Ghalib was born in Uttar Pradesh's Agra on December 27, 1797, penned many pieces of timeless poetry.
He died on February 15, 1869 at his house in Delhi and now his residence is converted into Ghalib Memorial, meant for exhibition of his literary works.
The great poet was married to Umrao Begum and had seven children with her. However, all of them died in a short period.
Moreover, he is one of the most famous among the Hindustani diaspora all around the world.
