Lahore: The Punjab government issued a threat alert for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) public gathering at Minar-i-Pakistan on Saturday night, saying that the terrorists could target it.

“There is also attack threat in Zaman Park and other places,” said the alert issued by the provincial government.

According to the Punjab government, the terrorists entered the city and they could target the police personnel deputed at Minar-e-Pakistan for political event.

All the arrangements for the gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan were completed as a bullet-proof container was set up for Imran Khan to address the leaders and the workers.

The latest reports suggested that all the roads leading to Minar-e-Pakistan are still blocked  as heavy containers and barricades have been placed there to bar the movement of the PTI leaders and supporters.

The PTI workers and supporters are being arrested and harassed by the police to stop them from going into gathering.

Iman Khan earlier had said that it would be one of the biggest power show despite that the government wanted to fail the PTI gathering.

“I and my party leaders, we all are ready to face all the challenges. Our 1600 workers have been arrested to fail tonight’s gathering in Lahore,” said the PTI Chief, urging the Lahorites to come out and support his rally.

Punjab caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir said that the ways leading to Minar-e-Pakistan were not blocked. He said that the containers were placed at certain points for security purposes while the people taking part in the gathering were being properly checked.

No political, he said, was being stopped from organizing the event, adding that it was the provincial government that gave permission to the PTI to hold is event.
