Court disqualifies Azad Kashmir PM in contempt of court
The court also dismissed his Assembly membership.
Kashmir: Muzaffarabad High Court Tuesday disqualified the Prime minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, GNN reported.
According to details, the full court bench headed by Chief Justice High Court Sadaqat Hussain Raja disqualified the prime minister in contempt of court case.
The court also dismissed his assembly membership, disqualifying him from any public office holding.
Azad Kashmir Supreme Court and High Court today had summoned Tanveer Ilyas for adopting a threatening tone in his speeches.
Tanveer Ilyas apologized unconditionally for his threatening statements against the judiciary. During the hearing, clips of Prime Minister's speeches were played and he was made to confess to contempt of court.
After appearing in the Azad Kashmir High Court, Tanveer Ilyas also reached the Supreme Court.
The full bench of the Supreme Court will hear under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Saeed Akram, the bench includes Justice Khawaja Naseem and Justice Raza Ali Khan.
The court has written to the Chief Election Commissioner to elect a new Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.
For the first time in the history of Azad Kashmir, a prime minister has been disqualified for contempt of court.
