Islamabad: National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance Monday called an urgent meeting regarding Supreme Court’s order to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to issue funds for elections in Punjab, GNN reported.
According to details, the meeting will discuss the issuance of funds for elections in Punjab without the agreement of national assembly.
Law minister, trade minister, auditor general, governor of State Bank have been invited to participate in the meeting.
However, as per the order of the Supreme Court, today (Monday) is the last date to release Rs21 billion to Election Commission for the election in Punjab.
Earlier Supreme Court had ordered SBP to release money directly to the Election Commission for the elections in Punjab.
