Imran Khan is first beneficiary of NAB amendments, says PM
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his address says the political history of the country is very painful.
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the first beneficiary of amendments in NAB law is Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
In his address, Shahbaz Sharif further stated that the Charter of Democracy is a document to bury political revenge. When his party was in power, they did not adopt the same bad and oppressive methods as the previous government.
During Imran Khan's tenure, cases were not registered on a political basis, and he criticized Imran Niazi for predicting the fall of another wicket.
The Prime Minister said that in the past, arrests were made on mere allegations. Rana Sanaullah was implicated in a case of 15 kilograms of heroin. That was a dark time when the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was criticized for amending the laws, but under the old NAB law, one could be taken to Italy for 90 days.
They said that they made amendments to the NAB law and reduced the remand from 90 days to 15 days. Today, Imran Khan is the first beneficiary of the amendment to the NAB law.
Shahbaz Sharif said that none of the allegations leveled against them have been proven. Despite severe reservations, they faced the law. After the death of Nawaz Sharif's wife, he left her behind and went to jail. After the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, the Pakistan Peoples Party demonstrated a high level of conduct, which will always be respected. Asif Zardari raised the slogan of "Pakistan Khappey" and buried the enemy's intentions.
The Prime Minister said that causing damage to properties is a terrorist act and an act of enmity against the country. Imran Niazi's arrest was made in a corruption case, and all evidence in the Al-Qadir Trust case is available. The 190 million pound deal was approved by the cabinet in a package, and the cabinet was kept completely in the dark. How could the cabinet make a decision when they didn't even see what was in the package?
They said that as political workers, they cannot express happiness over anyone's arrest. The role of leadership is to not let their workers cross the line of the law. Imran Niazi and PTI leadership have caused damage to sensitive, government, and private properties. The people of Pakistan have never seen such scenes before. Patients were removed from ambulances and cars were set on fire. Government officials were targeted with violence. A reprehensible act of inciting a few hundred armed miscreants was committed against the Pakistani army, which even eternal enemies could not do in 75 years.
The Prime Minister said that they present tribute to the people for rejecting the attitude of the country's enemies. All institutions, including the army, police, rangers, and law enforcement agencies, will be praised for the immediate arrest of anti-state elements, and troublemakers will be dealt with harshly. The law will be followed and punishment will be given accordingly.
They said that Pakistan's political history has been bitter. In the past four years, cases were not decided based on evidence, but on political affiliations. Blind political revenge has badly affected the process of national development. We have also considered solutions to the issues in NAB cases.
Shehbaz Sharif said that none of the allegations against us has been proven so far, even the British National Crime Agency has cleared us. The rule of law means fighting the battle of law in court, the powerful and weak are equal before the law, this is the beauty of democracy. Imran Khan's arrest was made in a corruption case, and all evidence of Al-Qadir Trust is available, which is being investigated by NAB.
