Nawaz Sharif suggests PDM leaders to hold power show outside SC
The sources say that some members of the federal cabinet advise PM Shehbaz Sharif to impose emergency in the country amid the tense situation arising out of the latest events.
Islamabad: Former three-time Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif advised the leaders of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to organise a power show outside the Supreme Court (SC), the sources privy to the development said on Friday.
The sources said that Nawaz Sharif made this suggestion during the meeting of the PDM leaders in Islamabad. The PML-N Supremo took part in the meeting via the video link.
PDM Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman chaired the meeting.
According to the sources, some PDM leaders expressed fear of confrontation in case of organising a protest outside the top court. They stated that the PDM leaders would hold a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman alleged that ‘criminal’ Imran Khan is being protected after he was arrested in Rs60 billion corruption case.
The federal cabinet, they said, held deliberations over imposition of emergency in the country amid the protests for the PTI chief.
The federal cabinet session was held under the chair of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. During the meeting, the cabinet members advised the PM to impose emergency. The cabinet members also held consultations over necessary steps to cope with the political and economic challenges.
The federal cabinet held discussions over the verdicts, as well as reviewed the recommendations of extending the tenure of the assemblies, sources added.
