‘Received excessive media coverage on marriage due to Sania ,’ says Shoaib Malik
The former Pakistan Cricket Team captain says he has no dissatisfaction with being dropped from the One-Day International cricket team.


Lahore: Former captain of the national cricket team, model, and TV host Shoaib Malik on Saturday admitted that his marriage to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza received excessive media coverage primarily due to his wife's celebrity status.
Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza tied the knot in April 2010, and the news of their marriage not only captivated the Pakistani and Indian media but also gained international attention.
The news of their marriage was extensively covered by media outlets from both countries, and numerous TV channels directly broadcasted various ceremonies of their wedding. He expressed these words during an interview to a local news organization.
Shoaib and Sania got married at a time when both were at the peak of their careers.
Now, 13 years after marriage, Shoaib Malik admitted that the media gave excessive coverage to his marriage primarily because of his wife.
In response to a question, he made it clear that he had no dissatisfaction with being dropped from the One-Day International cricket team. He had already achieved a lot in his career, seen and learned many things. Therefore, such minor matters do not affect him, and his brotherly relationship with Babar Azam has always been and will continue to be strong.
He said that although he has good friendships with most Indian cricketers, his best friendships are with Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Gautam Gambhir, while he also a strong bond with Virat Kohli. Shoaib Malik stated that he had good relationships with Indian cricketers.
In response to another question, he mentioned that they enjoy doing various activities, including modeling and hosting, that bring them joy.
Responding to another question, Shoaib Malik said that they would never impose any pressure on their son, but they desire to make him a Hafiz-e-Quran (memorizer of the Holy Quran) and want him to respect everyone.
