Karachi: The Sindh government made a significant announcement on Saturday, revealing its plan to create more than 2,500 new teacher positions for the upcoming fiscal year 2023-24. This initiative aims to strengthen the education sector and promote quality education in the province.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah during the presentation of the Sindh budget for the financial year ahead. The budget, amounting to Rs700.1 billion, emphasizes the development and improvement of various sectors, including education.
Recognizing the importance of accessible and quality education, the Sindh government has allocated a substantial amount of Rs312.245 billion in the provincial budget for the education sector. This allocation demonstrates the government's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for all residents of Sindh.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah highlighted the successful recruitment of approximately 58,000 primary and middle school teachers during the current financial year, ensuring their proper training and adherence to the Student-Teacher ratio policy. Building upon this accomplishment, the government now plans to create an additional 2,582 teacher positions in the fiscal year 2023-24, further strengthening the education system in Sindh.
In line with the objective of promoting equitable education, the government has also set aside Rs2.53 billion for the distribution of free textbooks across the province. Addressing the pressing issue of out-of-school children, the Sindh government plans to invest Rs1.553 billion in operating Non-Formal Education centers. This strategic investment underscores the government's determination to ensure that every child in Sindh has the opportunity to receive an education and realize their full potential.
