NAB chairman vows to make bureau apolitical
Bureau Chairman retired Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed admits the controversies surrounding his office in recent times and recognizes the organization's shortcomings and mistakes.
Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman, retired Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed, made a commitment on Monday to depoliticize the institution, acknowledging that it had been utilized as a political tool in the past.
Speaking at a ceremony, Mr Ahmed admitted the controversies surrounding NAB in recent times and recognized the organization's shortcomings and mistakes. He emphasized that steps were being taken to restore the credibility of NAB, asserting the commitment to regain public trust and fulfill their responsibilities.
Highlighting the significant contributions of NAB to the country and society, he mentioned the progress made in recovering assets in corruption cases. He also hinted at the introduction of new legislation to strengthen NAB's effectiveness.
Mr Ahmed emphasized that NAB remains impartial in its fight against corruption, stating that the organization has no favorites or enemies. He further pledged to liberate NAB from any political influence, emphasizing their determination to ensure a fair and unbiased approach in tackling corruption.
