A part of the cyclone will also hit the Pakistani coastal area of Keti Bandar.


Karachi: Cyclone Biparjoy, formed in the Arabian Sea, is advancing towards the coast of Pakistan and India, hitting the coast of Indian state Gujarat.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the intensity of Cyclone Biparjoy has been reduced by one level and now it has moved from 'Very Severe Cyclone' to 'Severe Cyclone' category. The wind speed at the center of the storm is 110 km per hour.
The Department of Meteorology stated that the storm has started hitting the Indian coastal areas Jhukao Port and the Pakistan-India border areas.
Cyclone-affected Gujarat's Dwarka region is being lashed by gale-force winds due to which several trees have been uprooted and billboards have fallen.
A part of the cyclone will also hit the Pakistani coastal area of Keti Bandar.
According to Met Department, the cyclone is 220 km south of Karachi, 180 km south of Thatta and 130 km south of Keti Bandar.
The center of the storm has sustained winds of 100 to 120 meter per hour (mph), gusts of up to 130 mph, and waves around the center of the system of 20 to 25 feet.
Meteorological Department says that in Pakistan, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Thatta, Sajawal, Badin, Tharpakar on June 17.
On the same day, Mirpurkhas and Umarkot are also likely to experience heavy rains and wind gusts of 80 to 100 kmph.
It is stated that there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan today (Friday), while winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 50 km per hour.
According to Department of Meteorology, waves may rise up to six to eight feet on the coast of Keti Bandar, coastal areas of Sindh and Makran may experience flooding, coastal areas of Sindh and Makran may experience waves of two to 2.5 meters.
