The former world champions West Indies and Sri Lankan teams could not directly qualify for the World Cup.


Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier matches will start from June 18 in Zimbabwe.
According to ICC, West Indies and Sri Lanka have been placed in separate groups. 10 teams will compete in the qualifiers to make a place in the World Cup organized by ICC this year 2023.
The former world champions West Indies and Sri Lankan teams could not directly qualify for the World Cup. They will also play qualifier matches.
According to the schedule, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, Nepal and United States (USA) teams were included in Group A.
Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland, Oman and United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be part of Group B. The qualifier matches will be played from June 18 to July 9 in Zimbabwe.
It is pertinent to note that Decision Review System (DRS) will be used for the first time in the Super Six stage of the qualifier.
The first match in the World Cup qualifier will be played on June 18 between the teams of Zimbabwe and Nepal in Harare, while the second match on the same day will be played by the former world champion West Indies and America at the same place.
