Texas: A destructive tornado tore through Perryton, Texas, claiming the lives of three people and leaving dozens injured.
The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado's impact on Thursday, but details regarding its size and wind speeds are still being assessed.
Perryton Fire Chief Paul Dutcher reported that one person was killed in a mobile home park that suffered a direct hit from the tornado.
Approximately 30 trailers were damaged or destroyed, prompting firefighters to conduct rescue operations in the aftermath of the storm.
The town, with a population of over 8,000 residents, received assistance from neighboring areas and Oklahoma's first responders.
Storm chaser Brian Emfinger witnessed the tornado wreak havoc in a mobile home park, causing significant destruction and uprooting trees.
Power outages affected nearly 50,000 customers in Texas and Oklahoma.
Ochiltree General Hospital urged the injured to seek treatment at their clinic and set up an American Red Cross shelter at the Ochiltree County Expo Center.
The hospital's interim CEO, Kelly Judice, reported an influx of patients, with around 50 to 100 individuals seeking medical attention.
Injuries ranged from head injuries to collapsed lungs, lacerations, and broken bones.
