Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) MNA Javed Latif has been arrested on Tuesday after sessions court dismissed his bail plea for extension in a case pertaining to allegedly defaming state institutions.

The PML-N leader appeared before the court as additional sessions judge Wajid Minhas resumed hearing. The verdict on his bail plea was reserved earlier after which the accused left the court premises along with his team.
The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested him from the Sagian Bridge area.
Earlier, the court extended his bail till April 27 after the counsel of the accused MNA submitted Javed Latif’s Covid positive report in the court.
A case has been registered against PML-N leader, Mian Javed Latif for making controversial statement.
The case, in which several provisions including treason are included, was registered against member national at the Township Police Station Lahore over the complaint of a citizen named Jameel Saleem.
In the First Information Report (FIR), it is stated that PML-N leader deliberately defamed state institutions and carried out hate speech.
It has been further written that the statement of Javed Latif created hate between the workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party workers.
Jameel Sameel said that the statement crated chaos and has urged the authorities to take action against the MNA under the Pakistan Prevention of Electronic Crime Act (PPCCA). The provisions included in case are 120, 120-B, 153, 153-A, 500 and 505-1B.
It is pertinent to mention here that Javed Latif, during an interview on a private TV channel, had said that if anything happened to PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz, the PML-N will not say “Pakistan Khappay”.
