Sri Lanka to host Aghanistan’s three-match ODI home series against Pakistan

Colombo: Sri Lanka is gearing up to host Afghanistan's three-match ODI home series against Pakistan in August ahead of the 2023 Asia Cup.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) approached Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), and the latest reports suggested that SLC gave its preliminary agreement to host the three ODIs at a single venue in Sri Lanka.

In a previous encounter between the two neighboring countries, Afghanistan emerged victorious in a three-match T20I series held in Sharjah in March of this year, with a 2-1 victory margin.

Afghanistan, lacking suitable stadiums, sees this opportunity to play in Sri Lanka as excellent preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup and the subsequent World Cup.

While the ACB also considered hosting the matches in the UAE or Qatar, the extreme heat in those regions made it an impractical option. As a result, they opted for Sri Lanka as the host nation.
