Karachi: Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vendors also demanded a nationwide strike on Friday in protest of the product's "expensive prices."
The chairman of the LPG Industries Association of Karachi Irfan Khokhar, announced in a statement that distributors will begin a nationwide strike on August 5 by closing their stores.
Khokhar said that LPG was not being sold anywhere in the nation at the specified official price and added that the gas was being offered at higher prices as a result of black-market activity.
He said that officers of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) officials were responsible for the sale of "expensive gas." The price per kilogram is Rs178, he continued, yet LPG was being supplied for Rs220 to Rs350 per kg, stating that he will file a lawsuit to challenge this.
The news was made just one day after Pakistani oil traders declared an ongoing strike that will begin on Saturday, July 22.
In an official statement, PPDA Chairman Abdul Sami Khan stated that the association has asked the government to raise the distributors' commission.
The notice further stated that the group wrote to the minister of petroleum, Musadik Malik, to raise his attention to this and a number of other issues.
