Naseem Shah responds gracefully to Mohammad Amir's praise on bowling skills

Colombo: In a post-day press conference on Monday held in Colombo, Pakistani cricketer Naseem Shah displayed admirable sportsmanship by responding graciously to recent praise from fellow player Mohammad Amir regarding his bowling abilities.
During the press conference, a reporter brought up Amir's statement, wherein he lauded Naseem Shah as a better bowler than Shaheen Shah Afridi. When asked to comment on this compliment, Naseem Shah chose to maintain a humble demeanor and emphasized his focus on personal improvement rather than engaging in comparisons.
“What do I say about who is better and who is not?" Naseem Shah humbly replied, demonstrating his modest approach to the topic. He made it clear that he does not see his cricketing journey as a competition with others but rather as a continuous quest for self-improvement, fueled by hard work and dedication.
“My focus is on improving myself day by day, and I am not in competition with anyone. Performing and doing hard work is in my control, whereas judging me is in the hands of others,” Naseem Shah asserted, underlining the importance of individual growth in his cricketing career.
Earlier this year, Mohammad Amir publicly expressed admiration for Naseem Shah's exceptional talents, especially among the current crop of pacers in Pakistan. Amir commended Naseem Shah's cricketing intelligence, praising his ability to read the pitch and adjust his bowling style based on the conditions.
"Naseem Shah is a different breed altogether. He outswings the ball as well as in-swing in ODIs. He also tries Yorkers and bouncer with the new ball," Amir had previously commented on his YouTube channel, highlighting Naseem's versatility as a bowler.
"He is certainly a smart bowler. For instance, he won't go for a swing delivery when he knows the ball isn't swinging a lot. This is the difference between Naseem and the rest of the bowlers. Other bowlers try so hard to attain the shape, but Naseem is one of those who read the pitch well. He grasps quickly whether the pitch is demanding swing delivery or a half-length," Amir added, praising Naseem Shah's strategic acumen on the field.
