Newly-appointed British High Commissioner Jane Marriott arrives in Islamabad
The British Ambassador says she is delighted to be here in Pakistan and can’t wait to settle into her wonderful new home.
Islamabad: British High Commissioner-designate Jane Marriott OBE arrived in Pakistan on Sunday to assume her new posting at the British High Commission in Islamabad.
Her appointment came at a crucial time as the developing countries trading scheme aimed at bolstering climate resilience, foster economic growth, and utilize UK Aid effectively in Pakistan.
For her journey to Pakistan, she traveled from London Heathrow using British Airways, the sole airline offering direct flights between the UK and Pakistan.
Expressing her delight upon arrival, Jane Marriott said she was delighted to be here in Pakistan, a country that held great significance for the UK and shared a longstanding relationship with them.

“With over 1.6 million people of Pakistani heritage contributing to every aspect of British society, our bond is special and continually growing,” said Jane Marriot.
She stated that their friendship was founded on shared history, values, strong people-to-people ties, expanding trade links, and a renewed development partnership.
“I am committed to furthering these connections,” she vowed.
Jane Marriott's career in the UK Government's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office spans back to 2001. Prior to her new role, she served as the British High Commissioner to Kenya from September 2019 to June 2023 and also held positions as British Ambassador to Yemen. Her extensive experience includes postings in the USA, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, as well as leading the UK's Joint International Counter Terrorism Unit.
