Election Commission is also facing the challenge of new constituencies along with the timely conduct of elections.
Elections to delay after new census
Elections are likely to be delayed if the Digital Census 2023 results are approved.
Speaking to private new channel, former Secretary Election Commission Kanwar Dilshad said if CCI approves the census, the elections will be held by 2024.
As per rule, if a gazetted notification is issued for a new digital census on the recommendations of Council of Common Interests, then under sub-section 5 of Article 15(1) of the Constitution, the Election Commission of Pakistan is legally bound to re-delineate constituencies, added Dilshad.
