Five killed, several injured in Pennsylvania explosion

Pennsylvania: Five people, including a father and son, were killed in a mine explosion in the city of Pittsburgh in the US state of Pennsylvania.

According to foreign media, three houses were completely destroyed by the explosion, while more than a dozen houses were damaged.

Media reports further told that three injured have been transferred to the hospital, where the condition of one person is said to be critical.

The condition of 57 firefighters who controlled the fire also deteriorated and were provided with medical assistance on the spot. US officials said that law enforcement agencies are trying to determine the cause of the explosion.

According to US media, this is the third mine explosion in Pittsburgh in 15 years.
